W.A.I.T. Prayer Guide

Here’s a format for keeping focused in listening prayer.

  • "WAIT" has to do with not rushing ahead in our own strength, but pausing to lean upon His. "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..."

W. Worship

  • No agenda but to love and adore Him. Do not bring any requests to Him in this time.
  • Psa 100:2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
  • Beginning just as the Lord's prayer begins by "hallowing" (setting apart as sacred & special) the "Father"

A. Attention

Quiet, Listening, Attentive Prayer. Do not bring any requests to Him in this time.

  • Hab 2:1 I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.
  • ATTENTION!! as a private in God’s army, ready for the next command. We are seeking "His kingdom come His will be done...": and to get "our will" out of the way
  • Shut off your one-way communication and let your heart reach out to Him, waiting with anticipation to hear His voice.

John 5:19 Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

  • Intercession is not bringing your concerns to the Father, but rather, praying over what you've "seen the Father doing", that which has been revealed in the Attention/Listening time.
  • Ask Him to search your heart for sin, and then repent of what He brings to mind. "forgive us our debts..."
  • Have the bible near, ready to turn to any verses the Lord brings to mind

I. Intercession

For what He has revealed during the "Attention" segment of tonight’s meeting.

  • Rom 8:27 "And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will."
  • "Give us this day..." : After interceding, offer petitionary request for revival and the increase of God’s purposes in....
  • The Government, The Home and Family, The Church, The Media, The Schools, The Business World, The Arts & Entertainment
  • NOTE: Deal aggressively with the enemy as the Lord reveals the strongholds ; "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

T. Thanksgiving

Offering thankful, expectant faith for the Father's marvelous answer to prayer.

  • Rev 11:17 saying: "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign." (full of faith & trust)
  • "For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, amen..." is the giving of thanks in faith. That which has been revealed by the Father and then offered back to Him in prayer, shall be answered. It remains for us to simply thank Him in faith for it, and then to wait with joyous anticipation at how He shall marvelously bring it to pass. Psa 5:3 "...O Lord you hear my voice... I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation."
  • Conclude with worship
